Three flowerful events Sault area gardeners should know about

Please share this with members who may not subscribe to our blog, as well as with other Sault area gardeners!

July 12 ~ 1 to 5 pm ~ Gore St. Flowerbombing
Taking Back Downtown is at it again. Last year they flowerbombed Jamestown with amazing success, and this year community members from the Gore Street area have come forward to ask for your help in beautifying their street this summer.

YOU can help to clean up the neighbourhood, increase livability and safety, create visual appeal, support local businesses, and foster neighbourhood pride and positive vibes in the area.

Flower Bombing is a guerrilla community initiative that in this case, explores the karma and power of beautifying a less-utilized public space. Flower bombing is practiced in cities across the world and is a form of tactical urbanism.

On Saturday July 12, Taking Back Downtown in collaboration with members of the neighbourhood will set up Flowerbomb headquarters from 1 to 5pm outside of the Neighbourhood Resource Centre and work together to transform the space.

Do you have a green thumb? Are you interested in helping to beautify Gore Street? Do you have access to gardening tools and/or gardening supplies? Paint brushes and paint? Would you like to provide us with some musical inspiration? Then stop on by and lend a hand. Cash, food, flower, soil, paint and mulch donations also welcome.

Learn more here if you are on Facebook. Facebook is the only contact method we could find at press time; if you are not on Facebook but would like to help, try to find a friend who is on Facebook to make an inquiry for you or stop by the new Neighbourhood Resource Centre at 138B Gore St. They will likely have contact information. You can also try calling the Sault Police Service (705-949-6300) to get a number for the Neighbourhood Resource Centre.
